Chiang Mai has been designated a non malarial area. However, it is possible to catch Dengue from mosquito bites. The disease is transmitted by the Dengue mosquito (it has black and white striped body), which usually bites during the day. We advise that you use mosquito repellent at all times, even though there are generally few mosquitoes in this area. At night the staff will activate electronic repellent devices in the rooms unless you would prefer not to use them.
